Erik earned a doctor of political sciences (sc. pol.) and is a graduate of social sciences (University Duisburg) and business administration (IWW, University of Hagen). He received a professorship of business administration at the FOM University, after he gained leadership experience as head of business units at the Chambers of Industry and Commerce of Luebeck and Krefeld.
In addition to that he tought entrepreneurship, management and leadership at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands and the University of Plymouth from 2011 to 2018. As a researcher he frequently publishes articles about strategy, marketing, employer branding, digital leadership and change management in relevant scientific publications, management journals and business magazines.
Since 2009 he applies his expertise in economics as strategy consultant, management trainer and keynote speaker. He has worked for numerous Hidden Champions, Dax companies, market leading mid-sized companies and international corporations such as Airbus Industries, Daimler, Konica Minolta, Vibracoustic or norwegian Yara. He focusses topics such as strategy, leadership, modern Human Resources and agile change management.
He is especially interested in analysing and predicting disruptive business trends, so that he is always on the ball to consult his clients on how to navigate in the VUCA-World. In an economic environment that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous, he assists companies to improve strategy, visioning, agility, innovation, leadership culture and employee commitment.
